Partnership

The Roopkatha Foundation is a partner organization of Kaikala Chetana, a local NGO in Kaikala, West Bengal, India. Kaikala Chetana’s Education Project is an initiative focused on providing sustainable, quality education to the children of the Kaikala village. The main features of the Project are:

  • 1000 + child learners in 30 activity centers (learning centers).
  • 40% children from tribal communities
  • 40 + trained volunteer-child educators
  • Working with the children of the brickfield workers
  • Mobile library
  • Hands-on science program
  • Training mothers in child learning and health
  • Highly community-based programs
  • Low cost and effective learning delivery system
  • Subscription-based fund raising
  • Strong educational resource base
  • Participation in national level teacher training program

RESPONSIBILITIES – In this Joint Program:

ROOPKATHA FOUNDATION recruits teachers, conducts teachers’ training, pays teachers’ honorarium, conducts Monitoring and Evaluation and bears the relevant costs including the cost of tiffin for the children.

KAIKALA CHETANA, on its part, offers to use its infrastructure and organizational network in the villages to set up and run the Inclusive Learning Centers and shares its experience of working with the underprivileged children. The Project is carried out in the true spirit of understanding and sharing. The approach proved its worth to facilitate learning of the underprivileged village children with Special Needs.
